A Legacy That Began With a Dream
Every great legacy begins with a dream. Ours began in 1960, when a man arrived in Mahipalpur with little more than his talent, determination, and the desire to build something of his own.
His name was Mr. Prabhu Dayal Jain — our grandfather.
At the time, Mahipalpur was very different from the bustling Delhi neighbourhood we know today. With trucks and trolleys constantly passing through the area, travellers often needed something quick, satisfying, and delicious to eat along their journey.
Our grandfather saw an opportunity where others saw an everyday need.
With his understanding of food and his ability to think differently, he transformed a familiar Indian sweet — jalebi — into something extraordinary. By creating a much larger version of this beloved delicacy, he introduced what people came to call a “Jaleba.”
It soon became a favourite among truck and trolley drivers travelling through Mahipalpur. Word spread, more people came to taste it, and the little sweet shop gradually earned a name of its own.
People began calling it “Jaleba Wale.”
What started as a modest shop was becoming a name that people remembered, trusted, and returned to.
From His Dream to Our Family Legacy
Years passed, but the dream our grandfather started continued to grow.
His grandsons carried his vision forward, building upon the foundation he had created with hard work, dedication, and a deep respect for food and tradition.
Over time, the small sweet shop evolved into a larger family business, bringing together three distinct experiences under one name: a restaurant, a sweet shop, and a bakery.
Although the business expanded, the values behind it remained unchanged. Quality, taste, and the importance of serving people continued to guide our journey.
As the family business grew, we wanted its identity to reflect the man who had made it all possible. We wanted a name that would honour his memory and keep his contribution alive for generations to come.
That is how Mr. Prabhu came to be.
Named in honour of our grandfather, Mr. Prabhu represents far more than a business name. It represents our roots, our family's journey, and our commitment to carrying his legacy forward.
Growing Beyond Our Roots in Mahipalpur
Mahipalpur will always hold a special place in our story. It is where our grandfather's dream took shape and where the foundation of our family business was laid.
As the years went by, that dream reached beyond its original home. The business expanded, welcoming more customers and reaching new communities with the same commitment to food and tradition.
With branches in Mahipalpur, Palam, and Kapashera, Mr. Prabhu has grown into a family business with a presence across Delhi.
Each branch represents another chapter in our journey — a journey shaped by the trust of our customers, the dedication of our family, and the efforts of everyone who has contributed along the way.
Yet, no matter how much we grow, we remain connected to the small shop where it all began in 1960.
More Than a Name — A Story of Generations
For us, the story of Mr. Prabhu is not simply about the growth of a food business. It is about the courage to begin with limited resources, the creativity to turn a simple idea into something memorable, and the determination to build something that lasts.
It is about a man who recognised an opportunity, introduced a distinctive take on a traditional sweet, and created the foundation for future generations.
It is about a family that chose to preserve his memory not only through his name, but also through the work it continues to do every day.
And above all, it is about the customers who have been part of this journey — those who remember the early days, those who discovered us along the way, and those who are becoming part of our story today.
Since 1960, The Legacy Continues
From “Jaleba Wale” to Mr. Prabhu, our name and our business may have evolved, but the spirit behind them remains the same.
What began as one man's dream has become a family legacy carried forward through generations. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to honouring our roots, celebrating our traditions, and creating experiences that bring people together over good food.
Because some things are bigger than business. They are built on memories, shaped by generations, and strengthened by the trust of the people we serve.
This is not just where we come from.
This is what we stand for.
Mr. Prabhu — A Legacy Since 1960.
